London Borough of Newham - Building 1000

C&C Catering Equipment were given less than a week to
tender for the catering scheme at Newham’s substantial new
flagship headquarters, Building 1000, overlooking London City
Airport in the revitalised docklands area.

The tender response was submitted and the following day
Paul Parry received a phone call inviting him to a meeting to
discuss the tender. C&C were appointed days later. With a
fast-track turnaround, the pace of the scheme never really
relented until handover just four months later.

Chapel Foodservice planned and designed the required
scheme which was supplied and installed by C&C:
Ground Floor Café

A 330 seater Café offering hot food, made to order deli,
self-selection salad bar, a wide range of ‘grab and go’ items,
a separate high quality coffee bar and a microwave area for
staff bringing their own food.

Hospitality Service

Extensive kitchen and preparation facilities, including a pantry
on level 4, providing Hospitality Service to 52 meeting rooms
(with a capacity of 484 people), including beverages/biscuits/
cakes, sandwich lunches and cold buffets.
Hospitality Service is also required for special functions, to
include Canapé receptions and Hot/ cold buffets.

Kiosk

An additional kiosk is situated in the building’s main atrium
entrance offering hot and cold beverages, hot and toasted
sandwiches, confectionery, cakes, snacks, etc. The Kiosk
is available to the staff of other tenants situated in
Building 1000.

The kitchen, storage and serving areas were all designed and
equipped to make the delivery of this menu variety using fresh
ingredients and the healthiest cooking methods possible.
With a key element of the client's brief to present food to
customers in the most attractive and appetising manner, the
design and equipment used in the food counters was an
important element of the job.
